Has anyone built the MT Smudge Oil Depot released this month (Dec/2010)? I would like to know if it is card stock OR laser cut wood? What are the tanks made of? Any comments on this kit?

They really don't give much information other than "Laser kits"...could mean anything. Seems like they should be laser cut wood but they really should spell it out on their website and they kind of leave the door cracked open so you're not sure. Send them an email (mtl@micro-trains.com) and ask. while you're at it tell them to clarify it on their website.

    The General Instructions say:

The main component of this kit is high grade laserboard. The tank is laser cut wood, and it is wrapped with etched paper around the wooden frame. The building is laser cut wood.

I just got mine yesterday, haven't built it yet, but it looks to be an excellent kit.

I see. So you have to buy it before yo know what it is. Hmmm. MT should clarify that stuff on their website.

Glad you got what you thought you ordered though. Let's see the progress photos as you build!

Some research as to how many other manufacturers specify beyond "laser cut" in their descriptions would also be interesting.
