It's a good thing you don't depend on me for the modeling, because I con't compete with this stuff right here. You guys do all the real work, and I get the honor to showcase you work! Talk about having the best job! Without further ado, we begin at Rifle Sight Notch, CO, with Brucead's D&SL #219 2-6-6-2 Mallet runs light over the loop tunnel trestle as her crew heads back up to Corona to help a stranded rotory snow plow crew. The ravages of operations way above the treeline, tunnels and miles of snowsheds have taken their toll on the engine, once the pride of the Moffat Road: (editor's note: first time I have ever seen "The Hill" on the Denver & Salt Lake modeled, the route up the 4% to Corona and 11,660' elevation) Next up is Curn, with a beautiful N Scale V&T Trestle: Pete D brings a nice scene of days gone by--not that long ago, but unrepeatable nowadays; A BN SD60M sits on the hold - BNSF BenZach Sub:
Continued: NP/GN Bill shows us a nicely done road scene, Nelson Bennet Tunnel and Ruston Way: Marty Coil shard a nicely weathered SP&S 367: And last, but not least is one of the coolest (pun shamelessly intended) snow scenes I have seen modeled; chillingly realistic! Who needs ballast, anyways? Check out the kinked, poorly-maintained rails on mikelhh's Remnant snow along the Bakery Line: That's all for this week! Tune in next week!:tb-wink:
Nice selection! I can attest that mikelhh's scene is an accurate recreation of actual rail conditions on a local branch line. In fact, he's likely understating the poor condition of that line (probably so he can actually run trains on it:tb-wink. Great work!
Wow-!!! Hemi- You really nailed it this week!!! Great selections and wonderful work guys... Thanks, Wolf
It never ceases to amaze me that the guy who absolutely nails New England in the winter actually lives in Australia. I don't even need to read the caption to know Mike's work. It's just head and shoulders above the rest.
Wow, thanks for pointing these out. Some truly excellent photos of some awesome modeling. I really like the weathering on the grain bins in Pete D's photo.
Thankyou for selecting mine and for all the positive comments! I can run trains through there, but I have to choose the stock very carefully :tb-biggrin: Excellent work by everyone. I always enjoy PeteD's superb work. Mike
And last, but not least is one of the coolest (pun shamelessly intended) snow scenes I have seen modeled; chillingly realistic! Who needs ballast, anyways? Check out the kinked, poorly-maintained rails on mikelhh's Remnant snow along the Bakery Line: Wow, that is awesome! Do you actually run cars on this section? I can't imagine them staying on the tracks. Sure looks great though!
