I am curious which railroad owned Pine yard before the creation of Conrail? NYC,PRR or....?Just curious as no one seems to remember pre conrail here.
I believe it was out of the Pennsy family. Without looking, I seem to recall it is their train orders which are in my collection.... Boxcab E50
Harold- Just east of Chicago, across the State line in Indiana. I believe the area name is or was once Whiting. Boxcab E50
Pine is right next door to Kirk yard. The yard across the way is Curtis ( Former B&O now CSX)Only reason I know Curtis is B&O is the "B&O pocket track" I was assuming Pennsy as well, but one never knows in the mess that is NE Illinois and NW Indiana railroading.
Pine yard was the NYC. Track 9&10 were for setting out to the "J" while they delivered to us on the rest of the tracks. NE was the tower that used to be there. It was a block station for the B&O and the NYC. They used NYC operators.
Why thanks Blue! Yeah 9 and 10 and all the rest are used by the J now.At least it was over the New Year Holiday.
