What do you G scale guys think of the B-mann 2-4-2 Baldwin locomotives. I know In N scale B-mann is junk at least the old B-mann the new N scale ones I'm impressed with cause they look and run great. I'm hoping that in the large scale B-mann is much better because I purchased one and the guy assured me that it ran great and it looked great to. Is $80 for a complete engine with tender including shipping too much or is that a fair price. The loco looked great and I asked a lot of questions before I bid and everything sounded good so I took a chance on it and won it. I know a new loco in N scale costs this much and I was thinking if I can get a G scale for the same price that looks good and runs good then I got a bargain and I'm lucky. But I just wanna put my mind at ease should I stay away from B-mann G scale in the future or did I just get lucky with a good loco. Any opinion is welcome.
I just bought my first Bachmann G after speaking with a few dealers at a Train show in OKC, OK. They look really good for the price! After I learned that Bachmann has a lifetime warranty, it didn't really matter to me if there were problems since I could always send it in for repair/replacement. Mine has been running great for 2 1/2 weeks (running every other day for about 4 hours at a time). I have a wishlist of things to change but overall the locomotive runs just fine!
5th generation Big Haulers have good drive mechanisms (metal wheels and look for the rubber lube port on the bottom) http://www.mylargescale.com/Community/Forums/tabid/56/aff/23/aft/73149/afv/topic/Default.aspx
Don't much about the locomotive in question. But, I am extremely pleased with my B-Mann G Scale K-27! A very smooth and quite locomotive, before I added Radio Control/Sound to it! I stay away from B-Mann N Scale stuff though. Only piece I have, in N Scale, is the DD40. And I have not really run it. New stuff, or old, I avoid it. Personal preference though.
