Watch selling as a lot to a dealer. Sold off all my Nscale about 7 years ago. Local dealer offered me $1000. Sold it all piece by piece on Ebay and even with fees was over $12k.

Why would one want to get out of N scale in the first place????

It doesn't get any better than this!!!

I say keep it and enjoy it......

You obviously put a lot of time and money accumalating to get it to this point.

    Why not enjoy it?

Take a break from it for awhile and come back with fresh ideas....

    Just my 2 cents.

Yes, Yes, Yes ! I agree, stay in it, take a break. Once you go to HO your going to be
wishing for more space. I agree, keep the N, say N.O. to H.O. !

It's the OP's choice.. No need to give him a hard time.

It was a mess, it was just when DCC was new and the drop in decoders for Atlas engines didn't work and Atlas started production in China with IMHO poorer quality and higher prices. Then prices skyrocketed. Atlas cars for $3.99 were now $15.99 and limited runs. I was running trains anywhere from 50 cars and up.

Three things happened. The industry priced me out of the hobby and I lost interest completely becuase I couldn't afford what I wanted. Things sat for 5 years or so before I sold it all. Third, was "I'm not running my train when your running DCC" mentality was going around. So I was on the "cutting edge" having fun and others in the club I belonged to had a real backlash.

What's changed now? I'm not sure. I am looking at T-track or ONE trak--but don't want to get involved with club politics. The "local" club is now about 60 miles away and still haven't adopted DCC from my understanding (at least one member is on here--correct me if I am wrong).

Ntrak clubs in my area seem more interested in circle burning with one train on one track at any time. Case in point, a locl train show had a Ntrak club. Rather large set up---maybe 40x20. Now three trains of varied length could run on one line easily with DCC, possibly even one person running all three. Instead, three trains--there was no real interest when 3 trains are on the same side of the layout. People seeing different trains on the same track seems to catch there attention to see "what comes next". I suggest that clubs adopt 1 train per scale mile of mainline.

Anyway--lost interest completely, moved farther away from the club, lack of DCC interest, skyrocketing prices it just didn't seem the hobby was for me.

The hobby is still overpriced. The Kato pocket trains caught my attention as being reasonably priced.

Let me throw 2 more cents into the ring here from my experience with another hobby I was involved in (slot cars) without verring off course of the thread.

I had them growing up much like my trains. Always enjoyed them HO and 1/32-1/24.

Got in and out of the slot hobby as was able to afford to.

Was racing with various local clubs and like the poster said above, club politics ruined it for me in regards to belonging to a club. This along with my 2 kids being born caused me to toally get out of the hobby. Also I thought the prices rising on the cars weren't worth it either.

Lets move forward to the present and now I reflect back on my wonderful collections of slot cars I had and wished I still had them again after taking years and money to amass the collections I had.

I made a decision to get out of the hobby without thinking it through clearly plus having new children coming too pretty much decided it for me.

I am getting long winded here but I guess what I am saying is be sure to think your decision through thoroughly before selling everything off so you don't regret it someday much like I do. I have found with N scale trains and slot cars that the hobbies have priced me out also so to speak with having to young children with needs currently. I find that I buy a lot of used stuff as it comes available to my particular interest more so then buying new. It is more affordable for me with a tight family budget and all.

I'm not trying to pick on the initial poster of this thread or sway what he wants to do. I'm just stating what happened to me and how I tend to regret getting out of a hobby I did enjoy myself in the past. For me to try and collect all those slot cars again is price prohibitive for what they sell for now. I still kick myself for totally getting out but you have to do what is right for you at the time.

Think clearly and don't make a snap decision.

I think if you decide to sell a lot of the fine folks on this message board would enjoy seeing what you have to offer on trainboard here for sale (myself included).

If you ask a fair price you should have no problem selling but if you over price things then people will tend to pass the postings buy and just go buy it new.

Sorry for being long winded but just wanted to shed light on my past and my past regrets now.

This site seems to have gone downhill in the last 6 months. They are down to 1 page of N Scale. Lots of parts. Not much there. I think the amount of people that look there has dwindled.
To bad. It had promise as an alternative to E Bay.

List it here.... No fees, name your price and if it doesn't go, rethink your strategy. I've bought a bunch here, it's all been good. But I would go by listing it by the piece and offering some sort of bulk enticement. On a side note, I'm looking for nice NKP passenger stuff.... :)

This also applies to people who are posing as fellow modelers but are also in it strictly to "flip" at your expense, sometimes on another venue from where the purchase originated and perhaps with the "I really don't know anything about this item but..." line of (insert expletive here) included in sale notices.

Somewhat recently, I have personally been approached by persons such as this after offering a couple of items for sale. I find this quite unethical.

At least there are folks out there who are honest about the fact that they will purchase at low prices with the intent to resell.

    I advise extreme caution.

    train stuff

I sold all my HO stuff in one blow 10 years ago by listing it on an internet forum. I got killed on the price but ebay was not the option it is now. I would put the list together and show it here and then take the leftovers to the bay.

If you have any Southern Railway stuff, I would be extremely interested.

I have a huge amount of N-scale equipment, mostly engines new in box, coming to market in a few months. I'm just getting rid of the excess, now that I realize I'll never have the time to convert them to PRR or to DCC if they are not. So I'll try TrainStore first, and just giving them to a museum second.

I agree 200% Ken Portner.I have several issues w/n scale also.I'm currently in the process of going from N to HO.Don't really know your reason Ken.Mine Is new products that should have been out a long time ago. Also parts for flat cars and other cars that I'd have to make.Detail part for N scale should be made and sold just like HO scale detail parts.Container pedestals,Draw bars and etc.

I would suggest Ebay with a mix of lots plus individual items that may sell better on their own. Any CB&Q stuf may be of interest to me.
