    Ztrack Subscriber!

    Hey Rob,

I finally subscribed this morning using PayPal and went with the 2-Year subscription for $67.00! Not a bad deal and I think/hope these will really be useful creating my new layout. Will I be starting out with this issue? I would like to order some back issues of the magazine too and wanted to know if those are always in stock and are not digital downloads.

Welcome to Ztrack! I received your subscription and the first issue is already in the mail. Plus you get a bonus issue as part of our 7 for 6 offer. Really a great deal!

We have a large inventory of back issues available. When you are in our back issue library, you will see 'add to cart'. This signifies that we have the hard copy issue available. If we have the issue available as a PDF download, an orange 'download' button will appear. We are still working on creating PDF downloads of our older back issues. This is time intensive, but as of now we have 1997, 1998, 2006 and part of 2007 done.

If you are looking for a whole bunch of back issues, we have some great deals that include free rolling stock. Here is the link:

I hope you enjoy the new issue!

people keep subscribing! One day just one day we will be one step closer to a full color magazine! just like railroader and the big ones.

PS the paper material on Ztrack is so much better than the typical magazine. I feel like they will last forever!

I'm starting my new lay out on saturday, and am going send Ztrack my progress pictures starting with bench work, then foaming, then side wall foam building, then track laying, all the way to structure placement including a beautiful waterfront and high high mountains with long bridges and a station and yard. I can't wait to start my new lay out. I have never finished a lay out in Z till this day. I always want a bigger better one once I have the one I'm working on for 8 months or more. But this will be my final shot at my dream lay out! I ordered a few track plan books so I'm going for the perfect track plan mixed with my own customizing of course. I can't wait to submit my photos to possibly enter Ztrack magazine because I've learned so much from you guys and all of you really helped contribute to my love of trains. Esp when you all post pictures of your progress and lay outs.

Hopfully I'll have a shot at landing the cover shot for a future Ztrack magazine that I can frame. Even a special edition signed by Ztrack and a congrats note autographed on the front would be nice. This way I can frame the actual magazine in gold outline then frame it. But heck thats even if I ever get a cover. I love Ztrack magazine and don't know what I'd do without it. I forget what issue had Prays waterfront but man that edition was beautiful Pray is really a true Z modeler he's my mentor, and a great person all around. Thanks PRAY and thanks ZTRACK!

Matthew, I am so happy to hear you are enjoying the magazine! I can't wait to see photos of your layout. Final shot at your dream layout??? You are only just beginning! Trust me on this one. I built three Z layouts before I tackled my monster. Many of us will tell you, the first layout or two are the foundation for your dream layout. It often takes at least one layout built to teach you many of the principals you need to be better the next time around. Again, I am living proof of that one! LOL!

Robert Ray (PRAY) is amazing. I have been very fortunate to see his work in person and share it in Ztrack. I also have the privilege to work with him to offer rolling stock kits. The water front series is amazing. I am so happy MTL is offering these kits.

Great issue! I got mine. Kev Smith's layout not only looks good, but he has some neat looking loco's that I have never seen posted here before. The other thing I liked was the starbucks article. I somtimes bring a layout oval with me for just the same reason. Good stuff.

"Don't blame the locomotive was spot on." That was the big reason why I went to MT micro track. It helps level the playing field. Add a gaugmaster and good power supply and you will have lots of fun.

I don't have it yet in Milwaukee. Now, if the wind is just right, you can spit from Ohio to Milwaukee. Of course, Indiana is closer, so maybe tomorrow???

p.s.: Hey Joe S. -- I see we both turned 41! Egad! Where does the time go...

    Hey again Rob,

I subscribed on the 12th and got my first issue on the 14th! But I live/go to college at Kent State in Ohio too...hehe. Just wanted to let ya know I really enjoyed my first issue, especially your article Don't Blame the Locomotive, as well as the Z Scale At Starbucks piece. Plus, my first issue touched upon one of my concerns regarding radii & AZLs EMD SD70M in the MailBag section! Really glad I subscribed for two years and already looking forward to the next issue. BNSF Aeroflow Hopper...those would be sweet in a 4-pack!? Oh, if you don't mind, and for anyone else...Snail Speed Controller or MRCs modified 1300? I tried going to ztrackcenter earlier today, but I think the site was down.

All this talk about your ages...40, 41...how much better you will at 51? I wonder how much better I will be at 31!? :p

I would say the controller you use depends on what you want for your layout. If you want protability go with the snail speed controller. If you are going to have something more pernament, I would go with the MRC AND get a gaugemaster. The gaugemaster is easy to install and will make the locomotives run much better at slower speeds.

I think you could also use the snail speed controller with the gaugemaster but I wouldn't use the battery snail speed, but the one with the power supply because I use gaugemasters with my Jorger speed controllers however, I do not use batteries with the Jorgers.

I still say the best controller is the Jorger delux. It is amazing, but hard to come by. I think Loren posted a link that you could buy, but it would have to be ordered from Europe, and the site is in German I beleive. Ztrack used to carry these and the combination of these with gaugemasters is the best for single loco operation on straight DC.

If you go DCC you'll have to get one of the guys on the board to help you there as I am not DCC'd

Still no sign of Ztrack in my mail box. It's been three weeks since they were mailed. Seems somewhat strange. Anyone else still waiting?
