We come to Colorado several times a year via Amtrak, so it's good to see what we may face next time out. I think this will be a great improvement for all of us travelers.
My sons and I usually travel back to Denver via Amtrak but for the holidays they surprised me with a flight through DIA so maybe on my next trip out of down I will get a chance to see what they are doing downtown
Right now Amtrak does not go into the Denver Union Station due to the remodel. They go to an old building down the street.
I'm hoping to get down that way soon to get some shots of the New/Temporary depot to add to my ever growing collection of RR Depots in the area as this too needs recorded for historical reasons... :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin:
I would like to see those photos. It will be interesting to see what the "Temporary station" (HA HA) looks like.
I know someone who will be traveling through Denver shortly. I'll be sure to get photos from the train.
No temporary station for us on today. I did see a new building site with what I think had the amtrak logo on the opposite side of where the track crosses over a street. Perhaps that is the temp. depot. We are close to an hour early! Maybe I can go investigate farther down the track.
Amtrak News: Effective February 1, 2011, the Denver Union Station will relocate during construction to a long-term temporary facility. Limited parking is available. See additional information about and directions to the temporary station. :tb-nerd: :tb-nerd: :tb-nerd: :tb-nerd:
