During our last worksession of 2010 my youngest son Florian made a few photos of a 100% Milwaukee Road layout, depicting the St Paul Pass line. It's not nearly finished, but it is on it's way... What a huge layout! You'll need tens of thousands of trees on a layout that size. How much of Adair Loop do you plan to build? Have you taken the trail that follows the old mainline thru Loop Creek Canyon? It is hike and bike friendly. Might be a good excuse to take photos for modeling reference!
I have a selection of engines used by the Milwaukee Road in the west: SD40-2, GP30, GP35, GP40, U30C, U33C, U36C, U23B, U25B and a few fantasy engines: C30-7, SD60. Still waiting for the U30B, U28B, MP15AC.... All in all 92 active engines. It took me 25 years to assemble that fleet... Michael
Adair loop is, unfortunately, already done. (No photo at the moment) Unfortunately, because it is not that good as it is perched to a corner and not really visible. I'll try to incorporate it into the planned replacement of the upper helix. We did take a family-trip through the Western+Northwestern part of the US in August 2009. And we biked down the trail from East Portal down to Pearson on a beautiful sunny, but cool day. It could not have been better. We spent two nights in Avery and you can bet that I made many photos! I had them make me two photo-books of those 2 days alone. What a beautiful trail and even the non-railfan part of the family was impressed and for me it was the trip of my life. Michael
