Many of us (myself included) have said that UP butchered the Daylight Scheme when they painted the SP heritage unit. SO this raises the question what should a daylight ACe look like? Proud SD&AE modeller made this modelled after the steam loco. so should it look like this or something else? Maybe like the Daylight Diesels? give me your thoughts it MAY become a reality one day as for road number itd have to be a year for Daylights maybe the year 4449 was bult... but thats not the main issue here what should it look like?
Nice paint scheme, I like it. ...but personally, I would have rather seen the Ace in Black Widow paint.
I second the black widow. I am not a fan of the silver on the nose either. I would have the stripes arch in like they do on the PAs and E units...
I don't think they were going after an exact replica of the Daylight scheme in the first place. All of the UP heritage locos were *inspired* by the heritage roads' liveries, none of them were meant to replicate a previous livery. I hope you understood that in the first place. The SP heritage paint wasn't even all Daylight, it also included Black Widow elements as well. And don't think this was even UP's fault. If I remember correctly, the SP themselves came out with some "butchered" Daylight-colored diesels back in the day!
i was considering painting it like the daylight diesels as mentioned above... Black widow would be LAST priority as i dislike the colors. The Daylight is the whole reason i started taking interest in SP so if any old scheme is getting honored its daylight
the colors may look off but they allign with 4449 the reds and oranges do when the units are coupled together
