Hi all. Woo Hoo... My son wants to build a layout with me (this week at least) and my wife has agreed to an HCD sized layouts. Any references would be great.
Gonna start DC, would love to have 2 trains running.
I will search, but any references would be great. Thanks

Here is my N scale hollow core door layout. I have since removed the divider and filled the middle with foliage. It is two seperate loops of unitrack, all run by DC. I enjoy it as do my 12, 6 and 5 year old boys. :D

    Hope this helps

How old is your son? Unless he's a teenager, he's not going to enjoy laying track and ballasting and so on for days, weeks, possibly months before he can run something.

For a HCD, I'm guessing N scale. In which case, go load up on some Unitrack or even the Bachmann knockoff so you can put an oval together, maybe some sidings, and get some trains going around. You can also rearrangle things a bit while you study track plans. And then you'll learn for yourself that what fits on paper doesn't always fit in reality. But in the meantime, you'll keep the interest up playing with the trains!

I just went through the first four pages of the "Layout Discussion" there are too many links to point you to.

There are some good discussions that have already had the ins and outs tabled. Just look around and I bet many of your questions will be answered.
N joy it's built right in
