So my layout started with just a bunch of track laying on some sections of sheet rock which sat on the floor. Then I finally built a bench for it all. pictured below.

Then I laid down my foam subroadbed, my road bed, and the track.

Nice layout! I think it is N scale though. Regardless I like the step by step pictures and the wiring you have done is top notch. Great work! :)

Thank you guys for the compliments. Its atlas code 80, so yes, it is N scale. I've had my camera handy and have been taking pictures as I go along and continue to go along. I'm really happy with how it is coming along so far. especially considering i have only had the table built for about 3 weeks. currently working on starting to get my mountain in the back right corner laid out, as my accent up to the over pass girder bridges i plan to have running partly on the side of the mountain (if i can get it to work out right) as the outer track will be passing through the mountain. should turn out to be an interesting feature to my layout.

As for my control board. that took a lot of thinking and planning. The soldering was the toughest part of it as I had not really done any soldering before it. But i took my time and i definitely got better as i went.

it has definitely come a long way from a bunch of lines on a computer program. :)

Nice work, nice pictures and great progress. Your work from bench work, to track to your control panel is very neat. Can you tell us a little more about the layout and what you wish to model? I see a NS engine, so that must be the home road.

Im not modeling anything in particular. Just a freelance layout. The engine you see is just a cheap bachmann i bought just to have something to run. It will be replace by either a nice atlas or kato engine. Or two

Ok, so joint compound and its drying time is killing me, would have so much more progress done if i wasn't constantly waiting for it to dry, sand, Spackle, dry sand spackle. In all though it is turning out pretty good. just another learning experience for me.

I am really enjoying your thread and looking forward to following your progress. Is your layout 4x8?

It is actually only a 3x5. Originally was the only amount of space i could have. Now have a little more space with plans to add about a 4x2 yard of the back right
