I'd like to see more affordable prices--I'm getting priced right back out of the hobby. I wish we had the days atlas cars for $3 and $4 each.
Kermat, in a way, theTrainman line isn'tmuch more than that, when you consider the coupler conversion cost
All other things being equal, this is fine, but they aren't equal. Lower prices frequently means either lower quality, or lower wages for the workers who make them (make them in China instead of here, for example). When my income goes down, I just buy less, and realize that the creative portion of most hobbies can make up the difference (i.e., scratchbuilding). Nothing personal, btw; we we all sometimes forget the overall context. MH
How about a N-scale grain hauling trailer. So when you model say Walther's grain elevator with railcar loading on one side and truck loading on the other you can actually place a modern 18 wheel tractor trailer unit in your truck loadout.
In my world, I would be converting to MTL trucks--so the extra cost of Atlas conversion is a waste. Also, it seems Atlas called them "trainman" with no upgrades except adding $1+ to the cost. Just my opinion. Hmmm--maybe they could sell them without trucks--lower the cost and appeal to my cheapness.
Didn't GHQ make one of these(#52006 Dry Grain Trailer), although I believe they are discontinued. Maybe some shops might have them still! http://www.blwnscale.com/GHQ Modern Trucking.htm Trevor D.
How about a list of all the HO stuff and make it for N scale as well or doesn't the Mfg's think we as N Scalers need it. Excuse ME, but how much HO is sold vs N ? The big W don't care !!! So Poo Poo them.. I'm looking hard at which to do, HO or N, but N fits, Eyes are old and fingers don't work too well, but, N gives me more to run and more to switch with, so I guess N is the answer. But yes we need more in power and maybe some dummy units for sound and DCC storage. Didn't Athern do Dummies back in the late 60's. hummmmmmm. Maybe some more building from U Know Hooo. :mshocked:
I think the manufacturers think the parts are too small for our fingers,I got a reply from Caboose Industries about the high level switch stand made in HO Scale, and they said the parts would be too small for our over sized fingers, that is why there isn't one in N Scale.
No one has yet mentioned my favorite, an RSD15 high and low nose. Come on Atlas, you did the similar SD24/SD26 and the RSD15 was as common as it and more so than some of the weird and obscure roadnames you're doing existing reruns in. Oh, and Alco and FM switchers. In Unitrack a #6 turnout that gives you the standard Unitrack 33mm double track spacing.
"I would like a large variety of steam locomotive parts for kit bashing. Things like different pilots, smoke box covers, sand and steam domes, smoke stacks, cabs, compressors, feed water pumps etc. Each steam locomotive was unique, not just between railroads but within any given railroad's stable." I'll second Russell's nomination!!! "No one has yet mentioned my favorite, an RSD15 high and low nose. Come on Atlas, you did the similar SD24/SD26 and the RSD15 was as common as it and more so than some of the weird and obscure roadnames you're doing existing reruns in." 102 ALCO RSD7/RSD15s vs. 179 EMD SD24s and 45 EMD SD24Bs hardly indicates that the ALCOs were as common. But that said, yes, I do believe that someone should do both high- and low-nosed units... the owners were high profile even if their numbers were not quite as great as the SD24s. I believe it would be a good one to go with as far as early diesel-electrics go. But, then, too, I also believe that a RS32/RS36 would be good as well, even though their numbers were less.
Yes!, I would love that type of turnout. I think "Temp" said it won't happen because of the radius. Sigh. Hmm, ya, those would be cool locos.
I'd really love either BLMA / GMM or Traincat to do a generic photo etched rockslide fence. Have spent hours + lots of $$ scratchbuilding my own but not totally 100% happy with my efforts There's so much cool / almost close to scale photo etched stuff on the market these days, I'm sure it'd would be a good seller for whoever releases it The upside - as soon as I get my scratchbuilt technique sorted and built several feet of it, someone will put one out! rolleyes:
I left an 'almost' out of my original statement. A club member 'kitbashed' a pair of #6's to make a crossover on a T-TRAK module so Kato ought to be able to make them.
What about some decent water and oil colums for us steam era modelers??? Gotta have water and fuel for those puppies... Otto
Propane Delivery Trucks Wanted!!!!! I want propane delivery trucks. :at-wits-end: The retail kind that goes out to the customers house or business to fill the in place tanks. Also the large retail trailer type that fills the retail dealers on site tanks. Preferably, Suburban Propane ones. Those that model an area where propane is the main home and business gas source know what I mean.
