What do you think of the Prodigy Express.
Have a chance of picking up NIB for less then $100.
Is it worth it or stick with my EZ Command?

I did a quick Google search for both and here is one reply. Again, just one response. If given a choice, the Prodigy Express is what I would get. The EZ Command is quite limited in what it can do compared to the Prodigy.
Some people today are paying less than $100 for the EZ Command so you are doing ok.
PC control might be way down the line for you. If money is the issue, you have the answer.

The MRC system works fine, but really is a 'dead end' system. Not a lot of expansion, but you will be able to assign addresses beyond the limitations of the EZ Command system. You should be able to sync to chuff rate of the Spectrum steamer's Tsunami decoder.
One of the limitations of the Prodigy systems is the inability to attach a computer running Decoder Pro. This may sound trivial now, but you will understand how important this can be in a year or so. One gets tired of programming from a throttle when doing things like adjusting CV's for this like lights and 'chuff' rates.

Thanks for the quick response. WOW!!!
I have the EZ Command which I paid $54.
I was just wondering if it would be worth spending $99 for the MRC or save my money for a future D or N system? With my small layout the upgrade to the MRC and sell the EZ may be all I would need to go?
    ?????

I have the MRC Prodigy 2 system at home and find it really easy to use. Programming with the throttle is not hard to do but MRC does have a computer based program and interfaces available for their systems. But I don't think you can actually use decoder pro with their stuff. My only problem with it is that we have Digitrax at the club so I had to buy a D-trax throttle to use there. It might have been smarter to go with the same system both at home and at the club.

I've had both. Started with the EZ Command, which was great for a starter system, but I'm now running the Prodigy Express. Definately a step up in my opinion, and I'm quite happy with it. For $99, I wouldn't think twice....

I went to the MRC system a while back. Works great - no complaints. And all you have to do to upgrade to a Prodigy Advance Cab is get the cab unit and plug it in. If you want to expand with more cabs all you need are extension boxes.
