I've been trying to put together the track around my passenger station but it just doesn't seem to be going well. I'm using Kato Unitrak, I've got 24 #4 LH turnouts and 28 #4 RH turnouts, four double crossovers and about twelve 15 degree crossovers, but it just doesn't seem to be fitting together to look like the prototype. Any advice? Here's the prototype I'm trying to model:

No wonder he's got problems - I've never seen the derails/trap points/catchpoints or single slips in the Kato listings.

While looking at this post, for some strange reason, I feel like having spaghetti for dinner.

Good luck with the tie spacing, if you're gonna use Unitrack.... It will never look right.

    Where is/was that located?

Last time I saw a set of tracks like that, it was from a high-energy particle collision... :)

I believe it's Newcastle in the UK. Saw the picture a few weeks ago, figured I'd save it for April 1st. I have a hard enough time laying flextrack curves much less anything like that. I thought the Unitrak was a nice touch, though.

Looking at the first pic and trying to follow a route I kinda got dizzy and wanted to throw up!
For some reason the Brit terminals look like this all the time. I guess they like a lot of options.

The problem is that you're using #4 turnouts. You need #6. And my good frined Jack Daniel's. :cocktail:

There is some amazing stuff in that picture. The two diamonds on top of each other seemed like the most amazing until I noticed the frog in the middle of a diamond.

Not only would you need to handlay all the track, but you'd need some sort of computer-controlled track circuitry that only energizes the frogs/rails when the train is right over them, sort of how the Transrapid (maglev) only energizes the track when the train is on it.

And to think they replaced this beautiful scene with a car park.

    Shame, shame.
