Currently I'm operating a DC Kato Unitrack layout with a double crossover plus a left and right turn out. I really like the blue switch controls that attach to the power pack It is easy to visually see which way the switch is thrown. I'm interested in upgrading to DCC and the NCE Power Cab in particular. How would I control my Kato switches with the Power Cab system since the power to the track runs thru the NCE DCC rather than thru the Kato DC Power Pack? I tried to find a uTube video but was unsuccessful. Your assistance is appreciated. Thanks
If you want to stay with NCE this is one way. http://www.ncedcc.com/component/vir...arden_flypage.tpl&product_id=60&category_id=7 There are other brands of decoders made that will do this too. Look for stationary decoders.
You can just stick with the Kato blue switch controls if you want to. Keep the Kato power pack for powering them(just make sure it is no longer attached to the track) and leave them wired up like they are. The turnout control and the track power are completely separate, so if you convert your layout to DCC, you do not have to convert your tunrout control system to DCC.
