    I recently received an email from the Western Pacific RR Museum stating that someone came by the Museum the other day and stole the Builder's Plate from GP20 WP 2001. They would like it returned, no questions asked. That said, if anyone sees one show up somewhere (eBay, train show etc) take a good look at it. The one that was stolen is NOT the original, and actually has "STOLEN FROM THE WPRR MUSEUM" stamped on the back.

    Good point. But it isn't a collectable if it is a replica is it?

    I wouldn't pay $0.10 for it.

    I would pay 15 cents, and then I would contact the Western Pacific Railroad Museum to arrange a return and forward the name of the seller to the local gendarmes to pursue a potential criminal case.

    WOW, I would be willing to bet that it will end up in someones personal collection. I wonder how they felt after the stole it and read the back side? Its people like that, that give us a bad name when all we want to do is get out have some fun and enjoy whats there. Take photos and leave only footprints.

    Toledo, Lake Erie & Western just had a whole car's worth of seats stolen, along with new parts, old parts and re-rail frogs off of their ALCo S4.

    Unfortunately, this one was probably metal thieves. Best to notify all the scrap metal yards for miles around.

    I don’t know what a Builder's Plate is but if it is brass, it probably was sold for scrap. Thieves have been stealing the brass cover plates off of fire hydrants around here for years and it wasn’t too long ago that someone was stealing manhole covers.

    This is dumb! Ruined free roaming for everyone... If it was in weeds 4' tall and was totally disregarded by rr maybe but still dumb, it is still hot no matter what. Even if it was given to you by someone on the rr you still could be in hot water for stolen property.
