Check out this thread on HO shelf switching layouts. It's very much worth the time to read through the whole thing as it discusses many issues concerning shelf switching layouts, and Stein and others post some great ideas. Some of the images have broken links, but there are many groovy shelf layout ideas in this thread that you could join / adapt / be inspired by.
thank's well guy's i think ive came up with soemthing hand drawn and am jsut gonan go for it and see how i like it i can always modify it later on one mainline down the center of the two boar'ds one passign sideing on the 8foot long side with a ramp leading up to a coal dock a small lumber mill and a grain silo on the long side the shorter one will have some sort of proccesing plant that load's builk product onto box car's and semi truck's along with a few other industie's will this kind of idea work out. thanks' zach.
You can't get any smaller than the 1,500 layouts on Carl Arendt's Microlayouts site. Your layout would be considered enormous by their standards. Aurelio
