First an apologie for my bad english, i'm Dutch. I'm constructing a layout wich is situated in the centre of the USA, more precise a maintenance yard of the Union Pacific. I'm entering the stage of real scenery and i would like to find some examples of the track, building and scenery of real live 1:1. Can anyone help me with some links on the internet or photo's of such an area. Thanks to you all and if you wish to see some more of my layout, check the topic on FACTORY BRICKS
http://www.railpictures.net/ http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/ You can also use Bing or Google maps to get birds eye and street views of yards, sidings, etc of where you want.
Yeah, here's the link on Google Maps to the UP's Bailey Yards in North Platte. And here it is with a bird's-eye view from Bing.
Use Google Earth to view Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming. These are good examples of medium and small yards on the UP. You can also use Google Maps street view to get an idea on what the surrounding area looks like.
You didn't really state the era you want to model, but you can find some 1957 images of the UP engine terminal in Laramie, Wyoming, on this web page: http://www.westernrailimages.com/Un...92300_KRmpb/2/463793627_D6xcV#463793627_D6xcV Smile, Stein
thanks for this information already. I like the pictures Stein. But the date should be more in the future, around the eighties, early ninethies.
