Given where it's current home is, it would be one heck of a ride to get back to the US; hence the $$$ being asked for shipping...

Somebody better want this bad to even consider the purchase...

That is terrible... even if you had no option but to hand paint... still mask for straight lines and use decals :(

Looks like one of my paint jobs. How did it end up in Australia? Jim

Ah, those were the days. I remember painting like that, 45-50 years ago.

Could be worse... I could let my 11 month old fingerpaint it :)

Aw c'mon guys !! Don't ya want a loco with a rare horn-hook coupler and the one on the front broken off !! ?? And I'll bet she's got those big flanges so she won't derail at 250 MPH on our 15 inch radius snap-track curves ... Such a deal !!

How much do I have to drink before the engine looks good?

Honestly, it looks like Cheech & Chong painted it while on a weekend bender.

Maaybe they painted it with beer goggles. Does the model come with beer goggles to make it look better?

    No, folks, you misunderstand . . .

The badly painted locomotive comes free with the length of Kato Unitrack (or similar) it's sitting on!

You have to admit the seller isn't trying to sugarcoat the fact that it's a dog. His ad clearly states it's hand painted and one should "check the photos carefully". At least he posted photos of the actual item and not product shots from an internet site. This guy is being as truthful as can be, even if the item does suck, (and it does) the seller isn't hiding that fact IMO.

No, he's not trying to sugarcoat it but....I was just amazed he's trying to sell it at all, and at over $20 for a starting bid. And really, saying it's a "SOUTHERN" is kind of a stretch, it's like picking out a trashed Chevette out of a junkyard and hand-painting "Corvette" on the side. No, it's not.

His thinking may be that one would likely strip the paint job and re-do it, but who knows. I don't know what fair prices are for most HO items.
