I have noticed that Kato has been aggressively reproducing their model offerings from the very recent past like the Super Chief and SP Daylight. Interesting as it maybe since this practice has been very unlike Kato based on past history. If I were asked what I would like to see it would be the F7s A and B units in ATSF (freight colors) Blue and Yellow available again. I think it has been over 10 years. Do you agree with me. What would you like to see rerun again Kato or otherwise?
I would agree with the ATSF freight F7's. I am pretty impressed that all but the GP50 and the GP38 have been rerun with updated mechanisms to support DCC. Perhaps a 2-8-2 with an easy DCC plug in the tender would be a welcome sight. I also think they need to flood the market with the SD40's and SD45's and reach far beyond the ATSF, UP and the SP. Let's see some SRR and other eastern and southern roads done. Some will need to be High Hood, but that is worth the tooling change for the number of units they could sell.
Not really a "rerun" but a Kato F3 but this time in the "Grayback" CB&Q freight scheme with a freight pilot. Atlas SD9 in CB&Q "Blackbird" and "Chinese Red." Atlas hasn't run a "Q" SD9 since the Sekisui Kinzoku (Kato) run. Andy Tetsu Uma
I would like to see an updated Atlas "Jumbo Tank Car" with brass parts and such. Then again, I want a pony and a pound of $100 bills.
I would also like to see the Kato Mikado with a DCC plug. I'd like to see the Lifelike Erie-Builts run again. I would also like to see the Atlas Shay come out. I know there is a run still due, but I am starting to doubt whether we'll ever actually see it.
I'd also vote for Santa Fe 'Cigar Band' freight F7's from Kato and Erie-Builts from Atlas, and while not exactly a rerun, how about more roadnames for the NW2 (ATSF zebra stripe for instance). Kato regularly re-release their Japanese prototypes, just not the US ones.
Since you said Kato or otherwise... I would love to see Atlas do R.J.Corman GP9s...I even suggested two numbers when I sent a e-mail to Atlas..9007 and 9010.
I forgot one. Intermountain did these gorgeous FTs in the as-delivered Milwaukee Road scheme. They're long sold out. I'd love to see a re-release of those, even if it means different road numbers.
I was going to be silly and ask for a Mehano FA-2. However, I might be banished from the N Scale modeling community. Therefore I would instead suggest the Bachmann full dome lounge car. Maybe even updated with state of the art trucks and wheels and a narrow letterboard instead of the Auto-Train style one.
A re-run of the GN GP30 would be nice. The old Kato colors for the simplified scheme were off. It would be nice to see a GN in Big Sky Blue too.
Not as silly as you think, Mehano do some very nice European N scale these days now they don't have American manufacturers asking them to build locos as cheaply as they can. http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=546.0 If we are going down that road I'd like to see what they could do to update the RSD15.
