Any body see this lay out on ebay. I don't know what the guy was thinking as far as scenery goes, but to put so much effort in laying the track plan, why not try to spend a little extra time and money in making the scenery look good. I'm not trying to disrespect the guy, but he could of really had something going here, because the track plan isint bad at all, I mean yeah it has a lot of continues run in areas he should have just made yards or put bumpers on some tracks and branched off in another direction. But man hes got the right idea as far as track laying, and grading. For 4,900 I don't think anyone wants to take the risk in re structuring the whole lay out and scenery. But if the right buyer and hobiest buys this piece and fixes it up to look really nice, with all brand name structures and nice tunnels/ paint jobs this lay out could sell for around 9-10 thousand easy. What do you guys think about this layout and the construction of it, as well as track plan and scenery. And if it could be fixed to look really good?

I had to rub my eyes when I saw the mainline running right through the turntable...

There is a bit of history of this layout and the buyer, from the yahoo Z group. If you want details, please message me off this forum. Oh... this is not the first time he has tried to sell this layout.

I don't think I have ever seen that before. I almost would like to watch a train run through it.

LOL didn't even notice that! crazyyy.

I wouldn't mind buying the turn table off him if he would like to replace it with a straight track.

Whats the history behind the layout? I wonder where its been or who its owned by

Nothing about this layout works for me. Just too much of everything, like he overbought on track and buildings, bridges, stuff and he was hellbent on using it, no matter what it looked like. Like more had to be better - but it's not.
I'd tell him to tear it down and sell off the pieces.

The first time I saw this, it was listed at $8000.00, then $6,000.00. Now $4900.00? How low will it go?
I wonder who appraised it at $20,000?
Way too much track for the space, too many buildings that don't belong together, not enough room for scenery even without the buildings... Nah.
A clear violation of the KISS principle.

Kind of had me thinking Disneyland, when I saw some of the buildings, etc. Backdrop seems a wee bit less than many folks might expect.

Good luck to them, selling it for anything remotely close to the current price. :tb-wacky:

This looks like the same layout that came up last year where the seller was using a shill to increase the price. He told a couple of us to "butt-out" when questions were asked. The short of that incident is that a very good friend of this board reported the seller to Ebay, along with some email the seller wrote himself. Ebay cancelled and closed his account within about 24 hours of them receiving the report.

Yes, this particular layout is a lose, lose proposition. This guy is bad news. Give him and pile of spagetti a wide berth. Jim

Nothing personal, but that layout has absolutely zero appeal to me. I wouldn't accept it if it were given to me. I don't like a single feature about this layout.

Not to say this builder is a loser, it is simply not my cup of tea.

This is a typical toy train layout and has nothing in common with most layouts shown here. But everybody should be able to run his or her trains the way they like. In the end it is all about having fun with a great hobby.

I could use an Eiffel Tower on one of my logging modules. You never know when you might want to run a string of logging disconnects below such an iconic piece.

I also saw the mainline going through the turntable. Wow.

I remember having seen that layout for sale a few months/year ago as well. And for me neither this has any appeal. None of my stuff....

    He has another winner!

Yes, folks, he has another winning layout for sale, this time in N scale:

I love the "nicely detailed" part. One of these days he's going to get in trouble for employing 6 year old children to build these things!
Notice the tracks that run straight into the side of the mountain... "Daddy, where was this extra tunnel portal supposed to go?"
I've made some head-scratching mistakes, but I've never built a mountain on top of my rails.

Well, this guy proves that morons still run rampant on the planet's surface. Does he really think anyone is going to buy that piece of junk the way it is finished?

That one rail line must surely be called the 'train to nowhere'

All he could do is tear down both "layouts" and sell the single parts.

The HO scale shanty in the middle kind of ruins it. I agree that everyone should be able to have fun with the hobby as they like, I just have a problem when you go to sell the crap. At that point, it is what it is.
