MRC (the manufacturer) is directly selling some of it's plug and play non-sound decoders for $15 apiece. For a straight decoder are they worth it? Kinda can't beat the price but I want to get some opinions before possibly buying some. Looking at some for E8's. AC4400's (which should fit the SD70's and GEVO's hopefully), and F-units. Has anyone bought some and had success. Thanks. Jeff
I see no mention of BEMF for one, but still cheap! I think I may grab some... They must be discontinuing them to try to push people to the sound ones. edit: I did order a bunch
Hmm...I got two Kato E8s earlier this year...might have to look into these. I'm new to DCC, and I've never used MRC decoders before, so I'm interested to hear what people have to say about this deal.
These are basic good decoders. I've been very happy with the ones I have. The Decoders for the E and F will also fit the F40. The difference between them is the length of the leads on the LEDs.
I used MRC decoders a few years back in HO. If I remember they were about 15 bucks then. They all worked well for me, never had a failure. I did let the smoke out of one though, totally my fault though...Mike
I was looking at them, wanted to get just one,but was trying to justify the $10 shipping for a $15 decoder.
