Well here is my collection that I'm still adding to. I would like a few more parts since my layout is going to have two military installations on it. GFi is my source for vehicles and personnel. I haven't really found a good source for aircraft as yet. I have one helicopter, and a KC10 tanker is all.

But I always remember to support the vets, because they support us:thumbs_up::tb-wacky:

There are a number of suppliers of "near-N scale" aircraft at very reasonable prices. I think they range from about 1:144 to perhaps 1:192. As I don't have an airfield, I haven't followed who these suppliers are, but I'm sure other TB members can.

Check out woo woo woo woo woo woo's website...the Dragon models stuff is very detailed and close to N. It is listed as 1/144 scale, however I believe it is pretty close to N. Deluxe Innovations released a couple nice sets of Army vehicles along with some DODX 68ft flats in four car/multiple vehicle sets as well. Those are getting very hard to find, maybe try PWRS for them, AFAIK he had a set or two left.
The link to woo woo woo woo woo woo's is Dragon Models 1:144 Scale Armor
There are pretty nice aircraft there as well.

That would be great! I'm a former ARNG 13B (got out as an E-4 in an E-5 slot) myself and I am building an MLRS train but having never worked on MLRS (they were the best thing available for me from woo woo woo Klien, couldn't find any Paladins, oh well, MLRS wears crossed canons also) How many per battery, how many batterys per battalion? How many MLRS per 89' flat?

I'm waiting on the microtrains DODX runner pack, but have 8 MLRS from Dragon models, one MLRS command/support track, and starting to collect some Hemmits and waiting on the deluxe innovations 20' Tex-tainers (as far as I recall, army used a fair number of em'). Since I am modeling Philadelphia, I figure I'll train them down from Indiantown Gap as an ARNG unit.
Anyone got any other ideas to add to my artillery battalion train?

    my best,
    Jan

Thanks for noticing Pete, Yes I recently got one from woo woo woo Klien but was too large an A10 1/144, but I don't give up that easy. If you run across a link I'd appreciate it, and if I run up on some before that I'll be sure to post them here in case some besides me is interested.

My personal favorite and a rare pic, two M-65 Atomic Cannons, on E&JE Flat cars. Now that would be some cool flat car loads to build!

I'm working on building an Army Hospital Unit car, like the one overland brass released in HO a couple years ago. These cars were mobile self contained hospitals with a ward for 36 patients in 3-tier bunks (6 could be isolated), kitchen, dressing/operating room. Shower, two restrooms and two roomettes for the nurse and car attendant. Based on an 85' heavyweight passenger car design, these cars were purpose built new for the Army during 1944 and 1945, a total of 200 cars were built. Strings of these cars would meet incoming ships of wounded soldiers and transport them inland to VA hospitals. As they train routed it would be broken up and cars would then be tacked onto the back of passenger trains and taken to the final destination.

After WW2, many were sold to Ringling Brothers for use on the circus train, a good size batch went to the Alaska Railroad and were converted to other uses, the Monon converted some into streamliners (heavy ones at that).

As you can tell from the information above, these cars would be appropriate on just about any railroad during WW2, or later in their post Army configurations. Once my master is complete I plan to mold and cast these cars so I can have a train of them, complete with custom decals. See the pictures below to see what they looked like when in service for the Army. The last picture is of surviving car 89436 at the Gold Coast RR Museum in Miami.

Would there be any interest in these cars once I get the molds done? Anyone?

Here are some interesting photos of the rail equipment they used to use at the Naval Base at Dahlgren, VA to move the battleship guns around. Shouwn is a complete gun and breech housing as it would appear out of the turret.
