So the C&O had several varities of the 2-10-2. For the new B-Man loco is the tender of the "usual" for these locos such that I could swap out one of the available single Vanderbilt ones? What I am trying to verify is connecting the Vanderbilt via the standard plug from the loco and that the draw bar fits correctly. I will of course be putting in my own decoder. Thanks.

From the pictures I have seen, it should be no problem.

Go to the Spookshow site. He has the new 2-10-2 on it with photos of the tender wiring connections. By the way he rates the loco with an A with a few minor issues.

Anyone know if Bachmann will be offering the tenders separately? There seem to be a few varieties of tenders based on model.

Bmann has been producing and offering all the newer tenders including the Vandy that are set up for decoder installation and of course tender pick-up.

    I wish it were true

I tried to get the new tender from the H4 (vandy vc12) from Bachmann with no luck. Its the one with the four axles. Although there are a number of other tenders available.

In looking in the book "C&O Power" looks like there were 4 classes of 2-10-2s the C&O had. The B-1 had those wacky double sand domes, where as the rest of the classes (B-2, B-3, B-4) had a more classic sand dome arrangement. There are pictures of the B-1 and B-2 with the V16 vandy tender. The Bachmann 2-10-2 is close enough that some kitbashing could make a reasonable C&O version. There also is a picture of a B-3 with the tender more associated with the C&O 2-8-4s only with Commenwealth trucks. Also the C&O versions have different valve gear and the pumps are in different places. Plenty of work to have some fun with a C&O 2-10-2

The connector is the same but the harness on the locomotive is too short for the six axle vandy tender. You could probably make an extension for the tender connector out of a header connector or something similar. Now, where can I find that trailing truck...
