After seeing those BLMA reefers at my LHS, I bought a couple for my layout. They look so fantastic and realistic, but I am disappointed. I'm having a lot of trouble getting those Carrier units to function. I don't understand, they seem to have all the parts the larger sized ones do. They just won't seem to start up?!? Is it because of their reduced size that they just run quieter and I can't hear them? Should I return them to Carrier? My wife rolled her eyes and suggested I have my head examined, but I swear I can see the little green light that indicates they are running. Maybe its my eyes? Also, these cars do not seem to hold any air for the brake system. I don't get it. All the parts are there. And now that you mention it, my spine cars won't hold air either.

Shouldn't we demand more from our manufactuers? They seem to be giving up on N scale. Gosh, I hate myself. I'm never going to buy another piece of N scale as long as I live. I'm going back to Lionel. Ha ha hee hee...

I'm sure they are running just fine. Most likely since everything is scaled down by 160 the sound is below our threshold of hearing. Just guessing here. As for the examination of heads? Model railroaders are some of the sanest people in the world.

You should be able to log on to the web and get telemetry data that will tell you where your car is and the inside temp, among other things. Figured you knew... :tb-biggrin:

Can temps etc....Be adjusted via the laptop computer sitting next to the layout also??
Wouldn't mind getting a few LMA cars. Just don't have the display space for them, or a
layout big enough to handle them! My layout, so to speak, is a whopping 2x4 foot with a
massive 11" radius curve! Need to look into locomotive details pretty quick!

Mine work, did you fill the reefer tanks with the proper diesel first? Try that and let us know what happens. Check the temperature setting as well, I froze a load of fresh peas (it holds 40 of them).

Have you run the diagnostics on them? You have to open up the cooling unit and there should be a panel on the inside that will give you a readout of the cooling system. Mine all seem to be working fine. Just have to remember to keep the diesel topped off.

    AHhhhhhhhhhh...I found the problem...

On both the prototype and the model:

They shoulda run Thermo King units instead of the Carrier !!!

First, gloating is never considered to be in good taste. Second, gloating over a purchase seems particularly in poor taste. After all you did nothing more than what a few hundred if not a few thousand people did. It's not like it was the Mona Lisa or something that you bought. The cure for this gloating syndrome is, of course, to discard or throw out that which you are gloating over. Just Email me the location of your landfill.

My only problem is that I can't fit my beer inside it.

HAHA Awesome! At first, I was reluctant to open this thread, figuring it was another one of "those" threads. Now, I think this one should be stickied for a while! :D

Then I saw ThirdCoastRail's post and actually laughed out loud.

    Bravo gentlemen! Bravo! :) :)

    An obvious design flaw.
This thread is practically begging someone to make a load of some sort. Of course you couldn't see it but who cares? It's the thought that counts.

    Beer goes inside of you!

How many remember Benjamin Franklin's saying that Beer is God's way of saying men should be happy?

Now all we need are the reefers like these done for BNSF. Unfortunately I see many of the BNSF and have never seen the UP car.
