Was pondering getting one. Read that earlier, two motor version had many problems, including gear cracks. Later, single motor version supposed to have new gears; no more glitches. When was the new version released? Anyone here own one? TTFN.....Old Tom

I can't say for sure, but anything in the last 5 years or so is probably the better single motor kind. anything you buy relatively new (like the DCC versions Bachmann is selling) is definitely good to roll. A guy at my club owns one, and it does a good job.

I bought mine back in 2002, and I can't remember if it's the older type or not, but IIRC it did run just fine. EIther way, it;s a well-detailed model, and would look good in an industrial or shortline setting.

THANKS GUYS! Guess I'll pick one up. Building '50-'60s era, HO branchline switching layout, so it'll fit just fine! TTFN........

Has anyone adapted KD couplers to this engine?

No - I had plans of putting Kadees on mine but after further examination decided the Bachmanns worked just fine. It can be done of course but in my opinion the returns do not equal the labor.
