I saw this article too. After looking through the pictures I had to laugh. We spend so much effort trying to make our model photography look real while this guy is doing the opposite with real pictures. However, it's also a good lesson as it shows how shallow depth of field has a dramatic effect.
Good examples. Another interesting point in the article is that the colors have been artificially saturated to mimic bright models. If you download one of the images and de-saturate it a bit it looks a lot more real (again). I take from this that we should be using muted scenery colors and that an important step in weathering is fading. -Gary
