I just got a special edition of Classic Trains Fantastic 4-8-4s. There were 36 railroads that had 4-8-4s. And each one had their own special version. So lets see your 4-8-4! Either straight off the shelf or custom. Here is my C&O 4-8-4. They called them Greenbriars.
My two remaining 4-8-4's are the pride of the fleet. Two masterpieces from Tomball Locomotive Works, ATSF 3771 and 3772
Here's mine, I wish.............. One awsome machine ! ! ! Here are my two 4-8-4's ......................... KATO ConCor
SP&S 702 A slightly modified Bmann with a new tender. And the proposed but never built A-6 GN S-1 And a Concor/Kato S-2 rounds out the collection of running 4-8-4s.
My generic Bachmann Northern. Circa 1980 in a snow scene diorama: In a more recent picture doctored to look old:
"And each one had their own special version." Well, sort of... The Central of Georgia's eight "Big Apples" were patterned after SP GS2s but resembled some of the Santa Fe Northerns. But, unlike the ATSF and SP Northerns they were pure freight beasts.
Did somebody say Northern!! Here are some of the engines I have produced so far... All on Kato GS4 mechanism. FEF1 still being developed Product of Tomball Locomotive Works
Great thread! Boy those Santa Fe 4-8-4s were real behemoths. OK, well they were all behemoths but the Santa Fe ones just looked more behemothy. Doug
