Can't believe how well maintained this tower is in appearance. The paint looks almost new. Any idea of it's location?
No, that's what I was about to ask. It seems that all of these photos were taken in the same place, and I'm reasonably sure it's in New Jersey, but I just don't know where. I've got a whole lot more of my dad's archives that I'm going through, but I don't have the original slides, which might have the notes. Anyone else have any idea?
Hmmm. I can see Erie, Lehigh Valley and PC (probably ex-Pennsy?) in the photos. Trying to think of a common point for those three in NJ. I'd suppose there were several places to choose from.
Love these old photos! I also like seeing the details of a sometimes cluttered scene. It helps me detail my layout. Thanks!
Reminds me of the articles retired LV man Mike Bednar writes for TRP- accompnied by lots of great pics. I'm not a big Northeastern fan, but photos from there from back in the 60s and 70s fascinate me.
Most of my dad's photos are like this. He was a pretty darn good photographer. Taught us kids well (we had a full-color lab in our basement).
Mystery Solved! "Lehighton Tower with a LV train coming off the CNJ line to Packerton, with CNJ power mixed in." (hat tip to an LV fan over on RailWire) And I've got another shot that ties it all together with my older brother on the platform at Lehighton Depot, across the tracks, date likely to be 71 or 72.
Nice to see those old pictures. There probably is nothing left today of any of the structures or equipment. Do you have any more pictures that you could post? Stephen
