So elated that I had to talk about it! I have been looking for this kit for over a year and lost in the bidding wars on several of them on eBay. There was a sealed one on eBay about two weeks ago that I was following and got so distracted that I forgot to bid on it. The buyer ended up not being able to use it and listed it for sale with a starting bid at $25 or BIN for $45.90 shipped, which is less than what they have been going for. I just happened to search for it and to my surprise, it was just listed two hours prior. Nice X-mas find!

    :tb-biggrin:

    I hope it's not a dud.

Good for you! I've been keeping my eye out for one for several years.
If I read the Walthers coming attractions correctly, they look like they may re-release it. That will make a lot of folks happy.

They'd make a lot of folks happy if they released a new version of it.

I was "lucky" enough to find one little over a year ago and put it together last winter. At first I was elated also... Then the realty hit.

What a horribly fitting kit. It was embarrassingly bad with the cement silos not having a snow-balls chance of fitting together properly. Those were the most aggravating and are the most difficult to make presentable (be prepared to use a whole-lotta Squadron Putty on them), but there were many parts within the kit that simply don't fit together cleanly or well.

I've beed keeping an eye out for this kit too, saw one sell for $42 on ebay a couple weeks ago. It would be nice if Walthers made a large N scale cement plant like they did in HO.

I agree, the large HO scale plant would be a great addition to their N scale line.

I like the rust/weathering job you did. I hope I don't have to use that much putty. My entire layout is mostly comprised of Walther's structures and haven't really had any issues to date.

Yeah, most of Walther's kits I've done go together pretty well. This kit was by far the worst.

The modulars don't go togther very well either.

Recieved the Walthers Flyer (January 2012) in the mail yesterday. They have this kit on page 37 and on sale for $32.98.

Yes, the silos on this kit and the ADM grain elevator do take a LOT of work and putty to get them looking good.

Walthers website shows it as being expected in stock January 6, 2012. Still looks like I'll have to use it along with some other kits to kitbash a large cement plant.

Just about all of the walthers kits I bought went together easy, except this one. Be prepaired to use a few rubber bands to hold the silos in alingement , and when the cement is fully dried, I used automotive spot filler ( the red stuff that comes in a tube ) to smooth out the seams. Not real difficult, but the kit should have been designed a bit better IMO......Mike
