Originally announced 08/07/2010. Guaranteed Pre-Orders were taken by ExactRail for 30 days. We have continued to increase our Pre-Orders as needed since then. Yes we are still accepting Pre-orers and there appears to still be room for more Pre-Orders at ExactRail.

ExactRail announces All-New Trinity 64' TRINCool Reefer

It looks as though that I have come late to thread--thank you for posting!

ExactRail's N-scale Trinity Reefer is paving the way to a host of unprecedented features in N-scale, included our N-scale body mounted draft boxes--which approaches scale dimensions more closely than any other N-scale draft box of which we are aware, separately applied coupler cut levers, wire grab irons, etched metal reefer platform, and accurate paint and lettering.

ExactRail's N-scale Trinity Reefer is available on January 10th. Please visit www.exactrail.com for more information and to view the gallery of photos of our all-new car.

    Hi Blaine:

Any possibility of making the draft gear boxes available as a separate part for retrofitting your older fine products, or dare we say, competitors' rolling stock?
Even if not, congratulations for taking on one of N scale's major deficiencies; I hope this is seen as a major evolutionary step in N scale fidelity and that others soon follow where you have led.

That's not quite true; BLMA just has the MT 1015/16 coupler screwed to the underside of the car. There is no draft gear box as such.

OK, but the knuckles are in a draft gear box that looks like a draft gear box, not the MT box. A near scale-sized knuckle, like the FT or MT 905 would be great, but this is a start in the right direction. Even better, single and double shelf couplers of near scale size for modern rolling stock, like those available to HO scale, would effectively end the toy-like appearance of current N scale couplers. I guess I have an N scale inferiority complex, but I can understand why larger scale modellers aren't impressed with N wheels, rails and couplers. I think we should evolve to greater fidelity, but this is starting a whole new subject...

Thank you for your compliments; we feel as though this is the step that N-scale market needed to take. As N-scale modelers express interest in more detailed models, I am sure that other manufacturers will follow suite.

We will offer ExactRail's N-scale draft box as separate item for modelers who would like to refit other rolling stock.

    Thanks again,

Will we see any new anoucements in N for Springfield?
Looking for more schemes on the Evans box as well as a Waffle box, proper 60' boxes (the MTL cars have compressed height), and more gons.

    Blaine,

What are the inside and outside measurements of your draft box, compared to the prototype, as well as other boxes on the market?

They need to look at a BLMA wheelset. Correct AAR CJ36 profiles front and rear... something almost all HO wheels lack... and N too.

It's a 1015... after reviewing production samples with 1016s and comparing it to the prototype, we retrofit the entire run with 1015s

I like this discussion. Two great, young upstart companies pushing the N scale frontier forward. There's plenty of room at the top in N scale, too many companies content with mediocrity. Exciting stuff from Exactrail and BLMA, now how about collaborating on a line of near scale size couplers of varying knuckle designs and shank lengths?

Of more interest to me is the HO wheel line sprinkler model. Now there is something critically missing on the N scale scene! Just like the plastic pellet hopper (before Atlas did them), these are a very common sight along rights of way all across the U.S. PLEASE BRING THEM TO N SCALE! PRETTY PLEASE!!!!!
