Some passenger power and some freight power. Con Cor DL-109s Life Like E8 with a "Nose Job" to make it look better. My home made FTs that I had finished about six months prior to MT and IM both announcing that they were going to make them in N scale. Only the A unit is powered.
They sure do look smart. My ex Santa Fe SD26 purchased by Guilford Rail Atlas loco weathered with oils. Mike
Santa Fe Manifest on the high bridge. F units on the refueling rack. Another Santa Fe Local in Watrous, New Mexico
Great shots, all. Geep_fan, what scale is your layout? For me, slowing making progress, N scale Santa Fe U30CGs using Minitrix N scale shell, will go on Kato U30C / C30-7 mechanisms: More details in: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?92144-Trix-U30CG/page7
All the shots are HO, but none of those are my layout. One is my local club, and the last 2 are Bob Foltz's Santa Fe New Mexico Division.
Good stuff everyone, as usual. Here's my Rio Grande Challenger with a westbound freight crossing the Deer Creek Viaduct partway up Yuba Pass. The loco is an old Westside brass import and can haul anything you want to put behind it, even on this 2.2% grade. Even with a 36" radius on the bridge, the overhang is something else, LOL! Tom
Tom, We have a member that models D&RGW down at our club. Majority of his engines are older brass large steamers. Whenever we do track work, we always have him bring down equipment for the exact reason you mentioned. If the brass steamers make it through, anything will. We did have one case with a large 4-8-4 that make its own extension to a plaster tunnel portal when the cylinders swung out on a 42" radius curve.
Geep-fan: Brass is still about the only way you can get large standard-gauge Rio Grande steam in HO. And yes, it's very good for testing clearances, especially the big brass articulateds with prototype boiler swing. And I can't think of anything better for testing a tunnel portal on a curve--if your brass articulated makes it through without 're-forming' the portal, then you're good to go with ANY equipment, LOL! Tom
I have not finished anything this week so here are some old models I have done, if I have posted these before, I hope they do not disappoint! An old Robbins Rails/A-Line/Concor 60' Greenville Boxcar, where I removed the rivits and lengthened the wheelbase to more replicate a Thrall version of the car. Lettered with Mark Vaughn decals. An old Robbins Rails/A-Line/Concor 60' Greenville Boxcar, where I lengthened the wheelbase to more replicate the NYC version of the car. Lettered with Walther's decals. An Eastern Car Works Airslide kit, painted Grey and lettered with Microscale Decals. Represents an old M&StL car with CNW reporting marks. Thanks for looking! Rick J
