I'm about ready to start a rebuild of my layout, and I'm planning on doing an around the wall.
How are you guys mounting it to the wall? are you building someone or buying some kind of self hanger from a box store?
I'm thinking roughly 5 feet high off the floor with 24" depth. going to have 2 swing out area to access the door and closet.

Any pics of how you have the layout secured to the wall would be great.

    Thanks
    Chris

    1. it does not have to be connected to the wall, but in doing so it will be more sturdy.
    2. i simply attach to wall with screws into wall studs which are usually set 16" on center.
    3. this also would require legs unless you were going to support with a material at angle that will also be secured to the wall (such as at a 45 degree angle from outer section).
    4. one could use the hardware made for shelves (L brackets of various types and sizes) i find that to be an unnecessary added expense easily avoided.
    5. if the wall is block or concrete rather than wood and wallboard, drilling holes and using the plastic expanding pieces in the holes (the kind that expand and snug up with the insertion of the screw) it would be just as well.
    hope this helps

It is my intention to build a light frame to support foam and build book cases / storage under mine, (which run through the living room).

I used 20" shelf brackets screwed to studs through the drywall. I then screwed 1x2s to the brackets to support two layers of 3/4" foam board.

Well, I'm trying to get away from legs to the floor, and I have drywall over a wood stud walls. I'm also thinking of adding addition staging under the layout, and a cloth skirt to hide all my crap.......

    Hytec,

That is nicely done. Are you finding two layers of foam sturdier than one layer? This is 1.5-inch thick foam?

For the underneath side you could go to home depot and get some lower kitchen cabenets for you stuff-- make sure you have rollers on them so you can role them out of the way to check you wiring (Good Job)
