The train that is Friday is approaching the stations platform and slowing down to take on the passengers of our imagination. Our destination, our weekend modeling plans.

Jess, my Railfan Jeep and I are headed to New Hampshire to get some more measurements in Potter Place. I need to get the foot print of a few buildings before I can finish my land forming that started this past week. I really need a foot print of this building.

Add to that list the passenger station and general store. Nothing my Dad, myself and a 100' tape measure can't handle. Of coarse I'll visit with family too. I always say I'll railfan but that never seems to happen.

So how about you? Anyone else going somewhere to reach for inspiration on their model pike? Maybe you plan to catch a few trains going through town or the country side. Layout progression? Locomotive detailing? Scratch building? What ever your plans, share them here. We'll get together on Monday the 20th and see how we did with our goals.

    High Greens!

I've already removed the non-conforming rail sections from my street-running scene with girder rail. This weekend I'll try using a different adhesive with longer working time so I can get the rail sections properly aligned and gauged before the glue sets. It's in an awkward spot, well in from the layout edge and under the 45-degree roofline, in a dark corner when the room light doesn't help much, either.

I've also begun assembly of two more structures that will go there. Like Jim, I need an accurate footprint of what will go on the layout, because the buildings will be nestled in plastic cobblestone sheet. The weather looks unseasonably mild and dry, so it will be a good day to take my kits and rattle-can spray paints outside and go at it.

And, we're actually planning a rail adventure. At the end of March, we're going to Florence, Italy to visit our daughter, who is studying there this spring term of her junior year. She's planned this well, packing her organic chemistry and neuroscience courses into the other terms so she would be free to take "distribution" courses abroad. Italian, Italian History, Ballet and Pairing Food with Wine are great things to get college credit for, don't you think? Anyway, while we're there the girls want to visit Paris. We looked at travel and accomodations, and as of now we're looking at taking an overnight train. It takes longer and costs more than a bargain airplane ride, but it will save on hotel costs and take us city-to-city instead of airport-to-airport.

I'm working on two industries...hope to have them finished by Monday or Tuesday...
One is RVI Fertilizer based on the MR 2011 Bay Line article, and the other is a small manufacturing plant that hasn't been named yet...

I don't even have a real track plan yet, but that won't stop me from continuing work on the most involved benchwork project ever! https://picasaweb.google.com/111937484743367711266/BMFitchburgDivisionInHOLast night, I worked out how I'll mount the back drop - this weekend, I'll construct the design. :glasses-cool:Hopefully by next weekend, I'll be laying some track.

I hope to complete the sub base and the conductor side steps of my SD45X below. I positioned the thread plate, nose and cab just for this photo. I pleased with the look and of the unit so far. In the near future comes the battery box details. :)

Finished up re-motoring some of my old brass with new rare earth magnets--it's like I've got a whole new roster, LOL!
Now to finish up the backdrop behind the Deer Creek Viaduct. It's going to be tricky.
    Yah, plan AHEAD, right, LOL?
