Mr. Kin Hood passed away yesterday. No one person could have had more passion for the scale than Kin. Who was he? Anyone who visits Z Central regularly would have known him.

Most of us remember the TV series “Cheers”, well Z Central is like it. It’s a place to go to chat and share and best of all be “where everybody knows your name”. There has been plenty of deliberation as to what makes for the best Z scale forum. Should it be all serious and only discuss modeling and Z scale? Does it get too loose and goofy in some forums?

The truth is that over at ZCS we are a family and one that keeps growing. We share joys, sorrows, failure and triumph. There you are free to talk off topic, especially in chat, and not get moderated so quickly. Yes there is a lot of Z scale discussions as well. This is where we got to know Kin, this is where he spent quite a bit of his last year of life spending time with his Z scale buddies. ZCS was a joy to him but we are the richer for getting to know him.

I would like to challenge those of you here who do not visit Z Central Station much, if at all, because we want to get to know who you are as a person as well as what you are doing in Z.

We’ll miss Kin, a larger than life man who loved the world of miniature trains.

Thanks Karin-I'm really at a loss for words. You said it so well.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend Karin. We are all the same family over here too.

Remember different forums have different rules, and although some think we are quick to moderate, the truth is that when a forum grows as large as Trainboard is, you are forced to add more rules to keep the peace.
Most of these rules were the outcome of dealings with severe troublemakers visiting the other forums, but when a rule to keep the peace is implemented for some, it has to be for all, so we fall under that umbrella.

Yes Z Scale is a small community, and we are all pretty much friends with each other, both here, at ZCS (which you remember was founded by BAZ BoyZ members :D) and the Z Yahoo group. Each of these forums has lots to offer, and it's really just a matter of the interface we prefer, as to which forums we frequent the most. ;)
