A little nostalgia from me today. These are some of the pieces from my first Atlas N Scale train sets that I acquired back in 1967. Some of the wheels and couplers may have been changed out but all the paint jobs on the shells are stock. The caboose has MT railings and ladders added. We have come a long way since the "good old days."
Cool, Russell! I think I have a couple of those cars in my "boneyard" box A sunny day in N scale Alameda: Enjoy the weekend!
Crossing the Kootenay River and into Nelson yard...its getting there. Need more trees, bushes, ballast work and new line poles md
After a couple of weeks of working on locomotives I have finished these freight cars this week. This is a Branchline #1000A 50' SD Boxcar, built from the kit minus the roofwalk and lowered the ladders in all but the breakwheel area. Lettered with Mark Vaughn decals, note that the P&E shops applied the extended PC herald and was one of the only shops to use that herald. This is a CB&T 40' 6 Panel 1944 AAR Boxcar Kit. Lettered with Champ decals. All of the 1944 AAR Boxcars built for the ATSF were 6 panel cars so the Athearn or any other 40' car would not be appropriate for this class of car. This is a Robbins Rails PS1 Boxcar with the DW 10' PS Door substituted for the kit door. Lettered with Microscale Decals. The Reading PS1 Boxcars were the last interior post boxcars built by Pullman Standard, after that all their 50' boxcars were exterior post. Thanks for looking! Rick J
My brother bought this Doodlebug because he loves the Santa Fe paint scheme, especially the nose. My task is to re-letter it in bright red for his BEEBE RIVER RWY. The Santa Fe lettering came off easily with 91% alcohol. The tough part will be to add his letters neatly, so he can't gripe at his "baby" brother any more than he does normally.
Yard nearly at capacity today. #1113 is preparing to assemble a southbound to run as an extra down to the DT&I interchange in South Point, OH. This extra should nearly clear out the yard within a few hours. I weathered a P&LE 40' boxcar a few days ago, very happy with the results. Still need to weather the wheels. Still looking for a wood running board to replace the metal one that is currently on the car. The prototype had wood running boards. A pair of stone bridge abutments are weathered and ready for installation.
A little wildlife drama on Yuba Pass. Woodland Scenics came out with some mountain lions last year, so I thought I'd put one to use. And in case you're wondering, the doe escapes, so it's back to hunting rabbits for Mom-cat. Tom
Revamped the paint scheme... I was watching these run the other day, and decided that they needed weathering...but then I thought they needed a bit of repainting first... So, the all orange below the frame was repainted to dark green...and the sideframes to silver... The 13 will be repainted this afternoon...I painted the fuel tank silver...not good. It will look like the #14 soon. BTW, there are some VERY talented people that post photos here...keep it up!
My recently built Athearn/Rivarossi U25C Frankenstein loco. 70's era Rivarossi U25C shell mounted on a 70's era Athearn SD45 drive. Drive is original except for new motor, light mount and hardwired Bachmann decoder.
Simple, you have entered the "Twilight Zone." Just tell folks the era you are modeling is the Time Warp.
