http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10178050 I get an email from an outfit called HobbySearch. This was in the email. They clain these are made of paper and are asking $582 for these. Has anybody seen these before?
Not me, and for that price they can keep em forever, I'll scratchbuild something llike that rather than even consider paying that kind of money. Mistake? They also don't resemble any paper or card stock models I've ever seen. You may try the card stock models in the special interest group by that name in this site.
It is a card stock model - the kit costs $105.57 - not to much for 2 superdetailed craftsman kits: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10150768 Click on Manufacturer to see other kits.... those bridges...wow!!! I havenĀ“t seen (yet ?1?) any FLOR VERDE kits, but I have some card stock Sankei kits, like http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10129212 Superb details, easy to built and fits perfectly into "true" 1/160 settings Stephan
That item is two constructed and detailed buildings. The "paper" is actually not cardstock as used for postcards and business cards. It's more like fiberglass as it is resin soaked making it very stiff and resistant to moisture. The material is then cut with a laser. Many of the details rival the injection molded plastics. But to get the 3D effects the paper is layered. A window may have as many as eight layers. In this case you are paying for the labor of building an excellent kit.
I haven't got any of the Flor Verde kits (their kits are considerably lower priced than the built up structures) but I and other club members do have some of the similar Sankei kits. They are well done and there are a several buildings that are generic enough to use on a US layout.
