Hi to all, recently I've noted that this sound decoder is listed on several shops ( http://www.litchfieldstation.com/xcart/product.php?productid=999003485&cat=0&page=1&featured for example ) at a good price, at least comparing with my "usual" Tsunami 750. I've still to DCCize some N scale steams, and both price and size seems fit. BUT, specking with a friend, he tell me some bad impression ( steam sound , CV programming on Digitraxx difficult...). I don't want to influence here anybody, so my question: Some of you have experienced this decoder? Any feedback about sound quality, motor drive, programmings, JMRI compatibilty.... or just personal feeling? Tell me your impressions, please. Cheers

sound quality and motor control are exactly the same as the classic loksound micro(excellant) the only difference between the two is the files that are downloaded onto it. the classic loksound micro gets a file programmed on it with a single prime mover, a single horn/whistle and bell, when the loksound select micro has a file that has a selection of four prime movers, several horns/whistles and bells. I have installed a loksound select micro into a kato SD80 and I couldnt be happier. I have a 13 mm speaker in the fuel tank and it rivals my tsunami micro with a half inch speaker in sound quality and volume.

I've got two of the Loksound select micro's coming and will try to describe the installs in a Kato P42 and an FVM es44ac. From what I've read and seen the sound quality is excellent and motor control is excellent. also watched some youtube videos, good ones by StreamlinedBackshop

I just finished installing one in my Bachmann 4-8-4 J Class. I used a .56 (14.2mm) round speaker. It is correct that you have 4 prime mover choices and many combinations of Whistle, Bell and break squeal. I am very impressed, this loco now performs as well as or exceeds the tsugami installs I've done.
I installed the Micro V4.0 in my Pioneer Zephyr using a larger speaker and was not happy with the horn provided by a dealers suggestion. In order to change it I will have to either send it back or purchase the programming tools for about $160.00. Not impressed with that...

    Craig,
Any speaker 8 ohms, 15mm round or smaller will fit. The dealer you got the decoder from should have one. PM me for details of my purchase.
