still a lot to do on this one...clean and flat coat...install 'burglar' bars (beautiful etchings supplied on the fret)...windows, vent housings on the clestory roof, and acetate window 'glass'...
but I had to put it in the current 'Fast Mail' consist and run it around!
    Thanks for looking,
    Bruce

'Burglar' bars are in...preliminary painting of roof vents (the roof will get a 'blend' coat of flat black)...not too much more before this one is done!

The camera sure does capture dust and errant plastic shavings!..I need to make sure I give the whole car a nice clean brush 'grooming' before flat coating!
    Thanks for looking,
    Bruce

    Hello all...
The M&R sides' RPO just needs a clear flat coat to call it complete!
I relettered the RPO with custom decals created by Russell Straw (slightly smaller in font and a much better 'fit')...stripped and re-painted the roof...
IMO, this fret is the nicest of the heavyweights I've builr to date...more details supplied with this one, although the three new ATSF coaches have some nice detail bits as well (the storage/battery box covers in wood and metal, and the roof ladder grabs)
The RPO really helps round 'out' a ATSF consist, but, in particular, the Fast Mail...
    Thanks for looking,
    Bruce

Nice work. I need to pay more attention to roof detail from now on. Stock Rivarossi roofs look so bland.

    Dang them decals look good.

Fantastic and informative source of information. Do you have a source for M&R Sides? I have been trying to get hold of them but e-mails don't get answered and there doesn't appear to be anyone stocking the sides at the moment. Can anyone help?

Yes, the company who was stocking the sides in the US stopped ordering them. When they run out of a type, they are gone. You have to order them directly from Roberto. He has been working at a job at the other end of Italy from where he normally lives. So, he spends a lot of time commuting back and forth and has been quite busy. I will send you the email I use to communicate with him as a private message so the spam bots won't harvest it and bombard him with email.

What brand and color did you use to paint the car? I've been trying to color match some Roundhouse Overland cars and the Floquil Pullman green is close but not the same.

    Thanks, Mark

Pullman green is darker than what many roads painted their own cars. I use Great Northern Green for both my Santa Fe and Southern Pacific cars. I typically use Modelflex brand.

    Great Northern Green it is.

    Thanks, Mark

I just went to the Modelflex web site and don't see a "Great Northern Green". Several other greens but no Great Northern.

I would greatly appreciate also being able to purchase these car sides directly from Roberto if I may also have an email address for him.

    Thanks.

    Just concerned.

Has anyone heard from Bruce since this last posting? Curious as I sent him a p.m. and having something to send him and I haven't heard a response.

    Hoping he's ok.

Edited add on: I just heard from Bruce and everything is cool. Just a busy guy. Whew....
