I am looking to kitbash a NYC L-2a Mohawk and I am in need of a good side view of a L-2a and possibly the schematic showing all the measurements. I have the NYC power vol 1, which has it, but I am trying to do it on the computer with overlays. THanks Craig
The best views I have are in that very book, the "blueprint" on page 208 and the side view photo on 128. I may have one in an old Cyclopedia, but it wouldn't contain more info and dimensions than the one in Staufer's book. :tb-biggrin:
Lol thanks. Thats what I thought. Next question I guess is do you know if those drawings in Staufers book are to scale, and if so, what scale? I basically want to superimpose (spelling?) the schematic overtop of a pic of the model I want to build to verify how it looks. Saw another guy over on the Atlas forum do that to build a PRR loco, and looked like a great way to verify the look and dimentions are correct. Thanks again. Craig
Yes, they are scale drawings. I used to have scale rulers, but can't find them. Anyway, that L-2 overall running gear length of 42 feet X 12 inches/foot, divided by the 7 inches that it actually measures = 1/72 scale. Not all of his scale drawings are the same scale--looks like he sized them to fit the pages. Hope this helps. :tb-biggrin:
Awesome. Thanks for the help. I will double check some measurements against the drawings to verify, but that helps greatly.
