Supertrees have intreagued me, and I've been looking at the flocking options and I came across leaf flake foliage. It's like mini leaves for your trees, it seems cool, looks cool, but is it cool?

Well, if you by the scenic express brand, then its the exact same stuff they make super trees from. I have some noch leaf flake that I'm using to create grape vines. I can't give a complete report yet, but so far I have to say: better than WS foliage and turf by far.

This is something I must have missed. What are supertrees?

Would this be adaptable to such as creating vine maples? Northwest Bigleaf maples? Alder trees?

Candy: Good question. Do a search for "model railroad super trees" and you get several links. It appears to be several individual manufacturers that specialize in trees and foliage. They really look good. Some even specialize in different tree types.

For me, I think the leaf foliage gives a different look instead of just using ground foam for foliage. I just mix them up in a scene.

Also, I would like to see YoHo's vine when it is finished. I have a few vines but they are just ground foam glued to a building wall.

There is only one manufacturer of Supertrees and it is Scenic Express. Or rather, they are the only US importer.

    http://www.scenicexpress.com/supertrees.html

Basically they are natural plant product sterilized and dried along with a very detailed leaf flake.

If you prefer to go out and pick your own weeds, then you can save yourself some money versus supertrees, because that's all they are is weeds. The leaf flake is where the real product is.

Leaf flake comes in multiple colors from the various vendors. In n-scale you may find you need to strain it for size.
Scenic express has it all for this.

As for my vines. These are in a vinyard, so they will look a bit different than a wall though I do plan to put some on the side of a building as well.

I've been collecting pictures. I hope to do a thread all in one shot.
