i recently purchased a building that was sold to me as ho scale but was in fact s-or o -scale. i wish to keep the building and scale down it by possibly removeing the oversized doors and keeping the windows and either put ho doors on it or cover up holes with brick [paper or plastic]................
    has anyone done this????

I've never done it, but I can see how it might work. What type of building is it? (Pictures?)

Since HO means Half O scale your building is going to be twice as big as your other HO scale buildings. If The building hasn't been modified/damaged & you have original package why not sell here http://www.trainboard.com/trainstore/ , on eBay or the Yahoo Group selling sites. Did the same thing w/ an N scale building thinking it was HO when bought.

the building is not bigger than any other of my factories ...the windows can pass as large ho windows you can see the difference by looking at the doors remove and replace with ho doors... a 2 story o-scale could be made to look like a 3 or 4 story ho. i will place it towards the back of the city.......

You might want to do the reverse actually. People sometimes put N scale (on an H0 layout) buildings at the back to force the perspective and give the scene more depth. So putting this 0 one at the back might not work. Try it at the front as well - in theory it should work :)
