I had a week to think about it on a recent little trip, and I decided to dive in fully with my plans to make my area Appalachian, or at least near-Appalachian (South-Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, North-East Kentucky, West Virginia - B&O country). Man, this requires a lot of trees! I've covered about 1/4 of the area to about 2/3 of the density I want. However, the process of making trees and shapes has been enjoyable. I've taken tons of advice and techniques from the Board here and tweaked them where needed. Thanks everyone! Here's the progress so far. I want to get the trees mostly in place before I move on to some smaller details around the scene.
The baseball players are a major source of concern for me. I have the N scale players, but they are sandlot players. I want a team/team colors, but I'm scared to death to try and repaint them. I might save that for my absolute final project when I can focus all my patience and energy on taking my time and getting them right.
I like it scott. I can tell the final product is going to look great. Love the baseball diamond! It reminds me of Midway Field in St. Paul where the minor league Saints play. The tracks pass immediately behind left field and whenever a train goes by, the PA announcer, in a mundane voice, says "train". You can even by t-shirts at the stadium that just say "train" on them.

BTW.I lived in the foot hills for 10 years-beautiful country and yes I miss those hills and good people a lot..
