Well decided to make one thread and post all in one (instead doing 10,000 replays .... ) Got some projects that currently I'm working on ..... so here they are Just started on that Kaslo Shops F59PH ( future Metrolink phase 1) in the instructions it says can use Athearn F59phi mech (lol it don't fit at all the casting is too tick), gonna go with Kato F40 mech instead, as soon as i get one.
all the louvers and fans are see through ...... , thats it so far for the f59ph, got paint mixed and i have mached it preatty close to my Bombardier cars (a touvh of shade - mor blueish than the bombardier cars which are a tad purplish .... ) working on my Mp36 to make it Metrolink 899 (i know the fans on top don't mach per say but i had another Metra #427 and i do suck at renumbering so decided to make it into Metrolink 899 ( not gonna do the newest paint scheme science have an f59phi with it already), here it is so far ... made the fans silver (wanted to be able to see them and i think that's good, + did not really look if they are the right ones .... well used Q fans - late emd 8 blade ..... that's all i had left so its what its gonna be .... it don't have to be to the letter LOL ..... )
Still working on my Tri-rail Gp49ph-3 .... (handrails suck in my opinion , i mean not how they look but the making part... is a PITA ) , added air hose to front pilot and gonna use my spare kato coupler on it (came of the inside bearing trucks that used on the bombardier car ) still lot more to go.....
Well science i have lots of coaches now and had 2 #206 and 3 left over decided to tackle this First off there is a wiper kit from richnond controlls but .... i thing its too much and i want to make it myself so first off ordered Kato inside bearing trucks (ordered one set for now) they need a good wipe down cuz they come with that tick grease that suppose to help them roll better ( ya right, after i wiped all that off they roll great) the whole underframe is metal so had to dremel out the holes for the power pickups ( not gonna bother with strips coming off those, gonna solder leads to those and shrink wrap to prevent any shorts) (body mount couplers installed .... ) here is pic of Kato on left original trucks right (the styrene on Kato is removed that was the first try..... at mounting)
well its been a while science i posted here here are some projects science last time i posted Tri-Rail GP49PH-3 done .... NMRX 109 Rail Runner done ( railings, BLMA fans grab irons ets..... ) 4X metrolink bikes all sold.... making another MP36 metrolink now ( this one sold, that pic was before it was done... ) Metrolink bikes with interior lights Coaster Wells fargo coach and Coaster UC San DIego coach + working on my T-trak ( Like T-track module Yard )
bit to bright, still working on it ( its sitting on kato inside bearing trucks instead the athearn originals) cant wait for the f40 metra to come out....
Nice work! What paint did you use for the Tri-Rail loco? Where on the kato website do I find the trucks? How do you find they roll compared to the Athearn trucks? Thanks, Craig
Gonna look up when I get back home , for the blue I used a spray can I found at Joann's the orange and geeen are decals and touched up with paint
