Okay FINALLY getting to putting on road numbers for these LV C628's. I have MS decal set 60-880.That's good, but the BAD news is the set will not help me with the Cornell red C628's....I got the Snowbirds covered....Does anyone know of decals out there that will work on the red units????

    Thanks,

Well, another nail in my modeling coffin. The set you need is Microscale 60-861,and apparently,it's discontinued..I need probably another six sets,I'm really getting fed up with this.Remember when this was MODEL railroading, not model train purchasing??????

I feel your pain... I got the last remaining copies that MicroScale had of the 60-1006 set, C&NW 40 Foot Slogan Boxcars (and this was not even for C&NW boxcars, but that's another story).

Time to put out an APB to larger hobby stores for the LV decals, and possibly check Walthers also.

You know George,I've gotten to the point where I just ain't having fun anymore.I certainly can't[won't..] spend hundreds of dollars on locomotives to cut up to scratchbuild/kitbash anymore, now decals are going away,cars..25,40 dollars for a 40 foot boxcar? I don't know who's buying this stuff, but it ain't me.If I didn't put so much work into my stuff over 40 years,I'd get rid of it all...I used to think model helicopters were expensive, they're looking cheap now,I can buy one for half the price of a steam locomotive..

Actually,it looks like, with few exceptions,ALL the LV decals have been discontinued, although they still have some in stock, but not what you're looking for.The Snowbird sets are gone,[I use them for black boxcar/hopper decals] the Cornell/4 black stripe sets, and apparently, the GP38/U23b,AND the yellow stripe sets. They have caboose and passenger car sets still available.Welcome back to the 60's...

The sad fact that the few remaining modelers that actually do their own stuff cannot support the requirments for microscale to reproduce the sets for N Scale. Some sets I've seen discontinued for Conrail are being consolidated into single sheets and revised. Unfortunetly, the are still more that won't be done anymore.

This kind of stuff makes me really consider going back to that other scale...

My name is Jim Wiggin, and I'm a frustrated custom painter. I hear and feel your pain. I just got done writing an article on my B&M GP9 with Bicentennial stripe and was completing the Bill of Materials, only to find out MS discontinued those decals sheets. Ok, makes sense I guess, B&M, 1970's, I'm like the only guy who models that in N. With Galesburg RR Days coming up, I figured I would paint up another CB&Q locomotive. Most of the CB&Q decals are discoed. WTH? BNSF? Yup. Zinkers and I were part of the custom paint / detail guys in the central Illinois region for years. It wasn't uncommon for us to show up at any given show with all kinds of new locomotives. I used to crank out new stuff every month. Now the decals hold me back.

Between the lease on good eye sight that is due to expire in two years and the fact I can't get decals for most of the stuff I want model, I predict my days of having this kind of fun are numbered.

Fortunately, I designed my own decals for local favorite, The Bloomer Line, and I can finish those GP10's.

    Rant off...

Hey now, I just renewed mine for another 20 years back in March, so I'm good on the eye sight thing... :)

P.S. Where the heck are the emoticons at??.. maybe I need to double check that renewal policy again...

I just took a look over on the MicroScale site to see what decals I need and what is discontinued. EL, Erie and LV decals are done. I e-mailed MicroScale to see what they have to say. I am hoping they are going to re-design the sets and come out with something that replaces the discontinued ones. I don't have a good feeling though. This really hurts.

Jim and others looking for decals of Northeastern roads, Highball Graphics may have what you're looking for, or could make them...http://mgdecals.com/homepage.htm.
