There would be no way in the world for you to believe me, if I told you I dreamed about these last night. I seen some servos at the LHS yesterday and thought, why couldnĀ“t someone hook up a cheap servo to turn a signal on a switch stand. I was looking up servos on line this morning and was going to post the question of could it be done. I was looking for the drawing I have of CB&Q high switch stands too. Great job!! How does it move? could you make a video of the guts or what is underneath?

Used materials: scrap pieces of code 40 track, styrene and a 0.25mm steel wire.

Next picture shows how I have attached the swich stand to the throw bar of the switch. The steel wire, which holds the red sign is inserted in a small piece of styrene just above the throw bar, adjacent to that connection a small 0.25 mm pin is inserted, which hinches with a 0.3 mm hole in the throw bar. Unfortunately, I cannot make a closeup video with my camera.

Very cool indeed! Especially those close ups, it really shows how well thought and made this was.

    Frank, very well done indeed--congratulations!

In all truthfulness, I sincerely hope it's the last one you'll have to scratchbuild, since that style of switchstand is on the list of to-dos for NZT Products, albeit the commercial kit would be non-functional. If I do it right, however, it should be relatively easy to animate it as you've done.

Those are the ones I am waiting for. I found a really nice set of plans if anyone needs them.

These are awesome! Any chances of GN or MILW "chevron" style?

That is good news David, I am sure it will be fairly easy to make it functional.
What I did was easy, only requirement is good close sight and a steady hand.
A thricky thing was determinating the position of the switch stand above the throwbar. I just temporarily fixated it with some double sided tape (which alows still some movement). When it worked the right way I added some super glue gel to fixate it permanently.

This is something that is needed in N Scale as well as Z Scale.Milw chevrons would be neat in both scales.Great job.
