I'm about to attempt modeling PHL #36 in HO scale - but can't identify a suitable decal set for the lettering on the loco. If anyone could offer up some suggestions as to a suitable Alphabet decal set, or even a name of the font, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks for your help. Here's a photo of the unit:

I've been trying, but no luck. It's some fashion of art deco.

Let me ask you a question. If you could get "Pacific Coast Line" just as it appears on those, would that be enough? Or would you need a number set as well? I could probably create a vector image of that font, but not sure I'd be u for creating a complete font set. Let me know.

Thanks very much for all of your help. No Door Light - that link looks like it will do the job. Thank you for finding it for me - I had a fairly decent look through the Microscale website but didn't see that set.

RCB - I appreciate the offer but wouldn't want to waste your time. I think the microscale decals will be close enough for my liking. I can't imagine there would be many people who would recognize PHL locomotives, even in Southern California - let alone down here in Australia!

I'll post some photos in here when I get around to getting the units detailed, painted & lettered.

It looks very similar to the font used on the Rock Island heritage unit on the side of the body.

I think the units are actually ex-New Haven and/or ex Rock Island, so that would go some way to explaining it. Good pickup. Thanks.

ex-New Haven, IIRC. I was railfanning the property when they first arrived, and a UP conductor I know that was on the crew delivering them commented that was what was on their blue cards. As a side note, all of the end-cab EMD switchers, GP9s, and "SD18s" are off the roster, retired and/or transferred to other Anacostia Pacific (PHL's parent company) RR's. PHL is all "green" now, with Gensets from NRE and MPI making up the fleet. Last I'd checked, their pair of ex-SP (and DRGW) SD40T-2s were still in the fleet, held in reserve status. While touring the property a few years ago, the president at the time mentioned that while he had to purge the roster of the old stuff to help satisfy LA air quality regs, he planned on keeping the T-2s since they were reliable, and that he just plain liked 'em (he was a former SP man).:) I've got some of my PHL photos here:
