Sorry, I think this may have been discussed before but my search didn't turn up any results...

I see the Graham Farish containers listed in the n-scale section on eBay. Are these "n-scale" as in 1:160, or 1:150, or ? More importantly, do they fit in deLuxe Innovations (and Walthers, Athearn, et al) stack cars? And match up somewhat with DI/Walthers containers? I'm greatly interested in the 20ft-ers, but curious about the 40's as well. Thanks for any feedback provided.

    Hi Doug,

YES, the containers do fit the Walthers cars, but due to them being 1:148 scale, they are larger than the 1:160 containers..

My feedback as posted on another N-scale forum..

I bought some 40 foot and some 45 foot Bachmann / Farish 1:148 scale containers for my Walthers 48 foot double stack well cars.. The 45 foot containers fit almost perfectly in the Walthers cars with about 1mm gap at the end, and the 40 foot containers fit with about 8mm (5/16') gap at one end.. Width wise, they are a perfect fit, with no sideways movement.. (This is with both the single cars, and also the 5 car articulated units)

In my opinion, the Bachmann / Farish containers fit the Walthers cars better than the Walthers containers do...

Sorry, I cant comment on the other brands of cars as I dont own any of those, but if you measure and compare them to the Walthers cars, that should give you an idea as to if they will fit or not..

    Mark..

The Walthers cars are a bit oversize. If the containers are 1:148 they will not fit in the Deluxe Twinstack or any properly scaled model of a 40' well (Interail, Kato). They may fit in the Kato Maxi-IVs. I very much doubt they will fit MDC/Athearn Husky Stacks.

Note that in the US domestic containers (48' and 53') are 6 inches wider (102") than the ISO containers that Garham Farish is modeling (8') . So a 1:160 domestic well that is slightly oversize (~2 scale inches, or .011" ) will take a properly scaled 1:148 ISO container.

Won't look at all right though, IMO, and I think that if you mix containers of different scales it will be quite obvious.
