I have no layout to work on yet, but would like to do something towards that end. I have a Athearn BB GP-35 I would like to add some stuff to. It did not come with the handrails so I thought I would start there and add some other pieces to it. Is there a list of parts for this engine or is it more like track them down piece by piece?

I have (4) of them in the box and if I do a good job I may rework the others.

    Thanks.

Buzz - I think the answer to your question is probably "yes and no". You can go to the Horizon Hobby website and look up a bunch of Athearn detail parts for the GP-35 and find quite a bit, although lately I see a lot of parts out of stock. There are plenty of other detail parts - focused companies out there that make a ton of parts for the GP-35, I would hope that they group them in their listings for particular locomotives but I can't say for sure. Try Googling "HO GP-35 detail parts" and see what comes up.

For the handrails, if Athearn/Horizon doesn't list them, check Smokey Valley Products for them. They have a wide selection.

If you have a local Hobby shop that's been around a while it might also be worth stopping in and asking them. They may have an old Athearn parts bin like mine does.

I have only one "real" train shop that is with in 100 miles. I will stop by after work next week and see what they have.

I paid $19.99 for this engine a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. So I figure if I really screw it up, I am not out much. So I should be able to learn something by working on it. I thin it will be a fun project. I have not used my airbrush in over 9 years. Last thing I sprayed was the canopy for my RC helicopter.

Now to dig up all of the tools I packed away. Now, where did I put that hammer?

    Thanks

I too would go with smokey valley. But the last I heard is that they had gone out of business. Walthers site reports most smokey valley stuff as out of stock.
