Thank you Blaine, that certainly falls in line with the conversations I had with some employees since the changeover. No doubt this will pay dividends going forward as well. Jason
I applaud this announcement too! Thank you. For those of us who did not order yet (and who need to bundle with other cars to get free shipping to Canada) do you recommend simply waiting for the new roof, or can we order now and automatically get on the list for replacements? Thanks again, Gary P.S. I would love to see you rerun the 3267 gons at some point too. And don't forget that the world is crying out for some TBOX's.
Removing the roofs from ER cars Thank you Blaine! As soon as the parts come out, I will order a lot more. This type of customer service should be rewarded (and I can ALWAYS use more waffles). One more question. Will you provide other roofs as pars too? It would be nice to have X and diagnal panel roofs available. Oh and your new trucks.... and undec kits. I use a lot of parts. Removing the roof: For the rest of the readers out there, I just took a look at my Early Evans/USRE box. The roof is only glued down at the ends. To remove it, all you need to do is insert an exacto blade between the roof and the body at a 45 degree angle somewhere over the door. The roof will pop up a bit and you will be able to run the blade through to the end of the car. When the blade reaches the end, the glue pops and the roof comes off with no damage to the paint. As an added bonus, the roof pops back on with no need to reglue the part.
I had commented on this on TRW. If it's like the 5200's, the roofs have very small tabs that pretty much require them to be glued to keep them in place. With that said, the roof should come off without much problem by sliding a fingernail along the seem, breaking the glue joints. Jason
Group, Since my last post, I have already located a prototype Pullman-Standard 'bow-tie' style roof, and I have been allowed access to carefully photograph and affirm all dimensions. I am looking forward to ensuring that every angle, nut and bolt of our new N-scale Pullman-Standard 'bow-tie' style roof is absolutely accurate. Replacement roofs will be available to anyone who purchased our model and would like a replacement. However, we will ask that you request them from us once we have made an announcement. With respect to some of the questions, there is a thin glue joint which needs to be broken so to separate the roof from the body. This joint is easily broken with a little pressure. Of course, you may also use a broad X-acto chisel blade. The new roof will be tooled so that it drops into place. Best regards, Blaine Hadfield Vice President, Product ExactRail
Mine came yesterday. Out of seven cars one car was broken. Called Exactrail and they arranged for it to be shipped back for replacement.
Blaine Are the replacement roof going to be the correct color for there apropriate model like blue for CSX? Thanks
Got my two and another car today. Other than the roof, very nice. Now just wait for the roofs and then off to be weathered.
Just as a FYI......I called Exactrail and Chris was very helpful, I ordered a few more of the Southern cars, they are still the older run so he is also sending replacement roofs with them.....GREAT SERVICE!!!!!!
I'm struggling to order off the Exactrail website - no way to select an item or quantity, am I missing something? Thanks
I just tried it. No problems. I was able to add items to the cart. If an item is listed as "in stock" in green letters, there is a box below that and you can click on the little arrows to adjust the quantity desired, then click add to cart.
